[MFJ-Ameritron] digital clock

I have the MFJ-130RC which has the big digits. After struggling for weeks
with it, I convinced MFJ to allow a return and replacement. Of course my
return was received by them 3 weeks ago and when I called today they said
they received my return and will ship a new one tomorrow.
Here is the deal: You can set the clock to EST and it works fine, checking
for sync at 2AM. If you set it for UTC according to the book, adding an
offset of 5, (the chart is wrong, it says 8 for ET) it checks for sync at
9PM ET instead of 5 hours later, 2AM. I said the offset is not working but
nobody at MFJ seemed to understand the purpose of an offset. (isn't tech
support supposed to understand the basics of their products?)
Thsi probably has little or no effect in the time zones west of here since
they are closer to the transmitter. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Keep the glow!
