Hello Meteor-scatter friends,

As I got mni bounce messages in the list-admin folder it seems to be the right
time to send the meteor-scatter mailing list FAQ, hope it will help you out,
else drop me a message so I can try to help you out.

To help you out with your questions about the meteor-scatter mailing list a
Frequently Asked Question list is made. This FAQ list will cover most of your
questions, if you still have a question don't hesitate to ask.

Q - What are acceptable items to post on this list?
A -  Everything related to Meteor-scatter on 50 MHz and up. Announcing
Expeditions, Announcing Contests, Sked requests, New software releases or
updates, Meteor shower information, Questions about Equipment, Equipment for
sale like Amplifiers, DTR, or any other possible gear for meteor-scatter
operating, Questions about how to operate meteor-scatter, Your Meteor-scatter
results, Finding locators,  If you are in doubt, ask the list owner first.

The following will be considered inappropriate postings and can result in
you being unceremoniously removed from the Meteor-scatter list:  

o SPAM.
o Complaints about anyone.
o Virus Warnings or Chain Letters.
o Advertising non-Ham related items.
o General opinions, debates or licensing issues.
o Flames, personal attacks, profanity or other offensive material.
o Commercial Messages (items offered by or for businesses).
o Attachments of any kind (including V-Cards, GEDCOM files, 
  ZIPed files).

Remark : HTML and RTF formatted mail messages, Attachments like ZIP, JPG, GIF 
will not make it to the list, they will be rejected by the mail robot.

Q - Why aren't messages addressed to the list when I reply to a post?
A - This is by design.  A reply to message need only go to the original
poster. Please ONLY hit REPLY ALL if your answer is of interest for everyone
on the list. Getting into this habit could save you a red face in the future.

Q - Why do I get mail from the list, but messages I send aren't posted?
A - This list filters out posts created in HTML, RICH, and other enhanced mail
types along with messages that contain attachments.  It's important that you
send only plain text formatted messages with no attachments to the list or
they will never be posted (since Mailman will reject them) But you WILL
be notified.  

Another possibility is that you are submitting your post from an address other
than the one you are subscribed under (this is a closed list). Check the
welcome message you received when you subscribed to the list (you did save it
didn't you?).  The address you are subscribed under is contained in the body
of that message.

Q - Why have I stopped receiving messages from the list?
A - You can expect on an average 5 posts a week from the Meteor-scatter list
(there is rarely a week that at least 1 post doesn't go out).  Please make
sure that you have room in your mailbox for the mailings from the list. If
mail to you bounces because your mailbox is full or is unreachable for various
reasons, you will be unsubscribed.  You may of coarse re-subscribe when the
problem is fixed.  People that continue to have mail problems should find an
alternative email service that is reliable.

Q - Who owns QSL/QTH.NET?
A - Al Waller, K3TKJ.  While all qth.net lists are provided free of charge by
Al, donations of any amount are always welcome.  For more information you can
