Hi all
One month agou , I got "system error &H8007007E (-2147024770 the specified
module could not be found."
when I try to run WSJT , in my new computer running Windows XP Home
Edition.
This is full history
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------
To sum up, the problem EA3DXU has is the following:
WSJT works flawlessly before installing a new printer in WinXP.
Installing the Lexmark Printer/Scanner/Copier X75, needs installation of a
beautiful software pack to manage a lot of fancy things to do with it.
After that, you may still be able to execute WSJT, even after rebooting the
computer.
But sooner or later you will close the computer and then all changes take
effect.
The Lexmark Printer X75 software installs something in the system that
breaks WSJT program.
So after trying several techniques of libraries registering, the only thing
I have learnt is that regclean will usually weap nearly all the OCX
libraries needed for WSJT (that makes me think that the installer in WSJT
does not register those libraries properly in the system registry). After
regclean and rebooting, the error messages of WSJT change because it claims
that there are some libraries needed that are not found.
Doing "regsvr32.exe" calls you can register those libraries, and then WSJT
will have all the stuff needed.
Anyway the installation of the Lexmark Printer X75 will render WSJT
unusable, and all OCX in the windows\system32 remain unchanged. So the
problem is not OCX libraries. Those problems are different.
Maybe is .dll registering or changing related or another thing, but
probably
it will be nearly impossible to me to discover what is. So the solution has
been radical. If you could list me the .dll used by WSJT I could do
something more to have a look at it (search if there were any missings in
the registry or changes in the files in system32 directory).
The solution was to use the "System restore" function of WinXP
"Start>Accessories>System tools>System restore" (sorry if translation to
English is not good enough). Just going to the restore point before
installing the Lexmark Printer solves the problem definetly.
So the solution at the end is, I change my printer. I'll give my son the
Lexmark X75 and I will get his Lexmark Optra E+ laser printer. Of course I
will begin a battle with Lexmark for his WinXP drivers for the X75.
Best wishes from Ignasi EA3DXU son.
