Hi McHug. How y'all been?
Have you visited the Arduino site recently?
There is a platform hardware update called
the Arduino Uno, based on the ATMEGA 328
microcontroller, which in turn is an update
to Atmel's nice ATMEGA 168 microcontroller
chip.
They say the FTDI chip (USB-to-serial) was
replaced which "allows for faster transfer
rates, no drivers needed for Linux or Mac
(inf file for Windows is needed), and the
ability to have the Uno show up as a
keyboard, mouse, joystick, etc."
I'm still using the Arduino Duemilanove and
the ATMEGA 328 to develop the PICetSat III
flight module. These are available at some
nice discount prices!
FYI, the free development software was
updated and released a couple days ago
too. Links below.
I have a select few brand new PICetSat I
printed circuit boards (PCBs) to share with
anyone who wants to be one of my Beta
Testers. It is based on the PICAXE-08M
microcontroller as originally developed by
Steve N3SB and Rich N3III. Interested?
Just shoot me an e-mail message.
Lastly, "CarrollSat-2", the high-altitude
balloon experiment set for release on Sunday,
October 24, at the CCARC Mason-Dixon Hamfest
and Computer Show in Westminster, Maryland
will feature the PICAXE-28X2 microcontroller
on a PICetSat II module. I will update my
CarrollSat web page for you soon to list the
CarrollSat-2 pre-flight facts.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Pat
