Rich-

To carry your simulation to the next level!!!

LTSpice should allow you to run the simulation at different temperatures.
The voltage across the diode has a 2 mV per deg. C. negative temperature
coefficient. This will affect the voltage measurement accuracy a bit as the
balloon rises and the electronics cool. The temperature sensor is outside
and the 1N914 is inside the insulated package (the styrofoam cup) so there
will be a longer thermal time lag time at the 1N914.

Something else to mull over is that the PicAxe is only rated to 3V, so, does
anyone know how well the ADC in the PicAxe behaves below 3V?

But, I'm sure you'll have enough information with what you have to know when
the voltage is marginal.

I'm just another engineer throwing darts!! Good luck.

I just bought a Yaesu FT-897 (eBay) Transceiver that has all-modes from 1.8
through 450 MHz. So, I'm looking forward to the next launch so I can copy
your data on a laptop while mobile. I suppose an antenna like your
hand-held yagi mounted on a tripod would be neat to have, also.

I wish the GPS modules were a bit cheaper. Futurlec has them for less that
$40. Too expensive to risk losing on a balloon flight per my pocketbook.
