John,
Very good. The ATmega168 Barebone boards are here. These are designed to fit right into a bread board. So those who got a breadboard last year will be set. (I have a few left over.) The only other thing needed will be a serial cable, as we also have the P4 serial adapter. This platform can be programmed directly with C or with Arduino scripts, which is simplified code running in a C++ environment. Arduino has tons of libraries, which means that most of the hard stuff has already been done. Both of these are free environments based on GCC-AVR. So for next to nothing you can be up and running. You can see the Barebones board Rev C (we are getting Rev D) in action at http://home.att.net/~geobra/arduino.html Lots of Arduino info can be found at http://www.freeduino.org/
The Barebones boards will be available for our workshop April 19th and if people want them sooner perhaps we can have breakfast April 5th.
Also welcome to Frank K3MTT. We are now eleven.
