Now that Tax Day has come and gone we can get back to good stuff. This Saturday we are having our Workshop durning which we will have two types of activity.
1) Soldering: If you haven't got your Barebones Board kit yet or did get one but didn't get to solder it, this will be the first activity. The idea is to come away from this with a working Arduino kit and P4 serial port adapter. (By the way, BBB kits are free to those who come out.)
2) Programming: Once you have built the kit then you will get on a computer, load the Arduino environment and download the Blink program into the Barebones Board. Your takeaway from this activity is knowing how to load and use the Arduino environment. If you bring your own computer, your takeaway will be a working Arduino environment.
What should you bring? IF you have it bring:
1) Barebones Board kit and P4 serial adapter. I'll bring about ten kits.
2) Soldering stuff if you need to build the kit. We'll bring extra.
3) Breadboard - if you got a breadboard last year for the PICAXE, bring it along - the Barebones Board will fit right into it.
4) Your computer, if you want to.
Please let me know if you are coming. Let me know if you will be soldering a kit or are ready to jump right into the computer work. Right now we are looking at working in the club station. The adjoining classroom is in use. If more than a few are interested in coming, we'll investigate classrooms in the barn. If the weather forcast holds up, the VHF porch may be a good place to solder.
Since my last communication Neil, WA5JXY has joined us. Welcome. If QRZ is correct we probably won't expect to see you on Saturday since TX is a long way from MD. But we can sure get you some of this Arduino stuff if you want to join in the fun. So far we have 13 on the reflector.
