[MCARC] 147.285 repeater repair

Hi all.

With the checks I have done with the 147.285 repeater radio, it will
need to be sent in for repair. After speaking with the Kenwood tech, I
took a look at the repair rates from the facility in California. First
there is a $35 evaluation fee and then they get $110.00/hour + parts and
shipping.

I only have $300.00 in this radio to begin with and that could be the
cost of the repair, or more. Is it worth it?

I can also query the repeater builder list to see if there is someone
that does such repairs. There is a company out in Denver that I have
bought used radios from that may do such repairs. I am also open to
suggestions.

At issue it appears to me that something in the squelch noise gate
circuitry has failed and is essentially desensing the receiver to the
point that only the highest level from my signal generator can be heard
through the receiver. Of course, it is all surface mount stuff, and
mounted on the bottom of the board! Well above my pay grade...

73, Nate
