[MCARC] Wire to share

I used a Yaesu FT 450 that I had purchased probably a decade + ago from ham
in Topeka moving from a personal home into some retirement place that had
restrictions where he wasn't going to be able to have outside antenna. The
radio was less than 2 years old. Did some mic reports for KB0DEU who had a
desk mic getting bad reports. It worked much better when I got
button pushes so radio was on USB. I have reviewed my manual since and just
need to practice. I had turned down watts out a few weeks ago when watching
a YouTube video on FLDigi. I am still trying to get to where I can have
that working with CW. It may have more success now that the ham station
computer is to become an old tower than just a laptop. I was pretty excited
Saturday morning hearing something like field day and the station from
overseas; Moscow.
Wire question. After spending some of yesterday reading online about coiled
dipoles, I saw in pictures that the coils were constructed with enameled
wire. I don't think the type of insulation should be a problem except the
distance between each wrap would be greater for insulated vs enameled
meaning the overall length of say 48 turns would be longer. I haven't
learned yet about how to figure uH for a type of wire. I did find an
equation for coil uH based on turns, length and such.
