Why people study, take the exams, pass them, receive the license, and
then apparently maintain radio silence has long been a mystery to me.
In times past with the Novice being restricted to CW only the likelihood
of meeting a local on the air was fairly low.  With the Tech license now
being the entry, it seems strange to never here these ops.

Years back, possibly with the elimination of the Morse exam, I sent a
newsletter to all of the hams I could find an address for in Marshall
and Washington counties.  Response?  Zero.  I did get a few returned by
the post office as undeliverable.  That was about the most honest
response.

It's possible that some only have an interest in activities that don't
involve the local repeater or club.
