The February 8 CERT Radio license class is made available by volunteer
amateurs.  If you are planning to attend, we need to receive your
registration!  The first step in joining CERT Radio is to obtain an Amateur
Radio License.  In addition to filling out a simple form, passing a test of
basic radio

technology is all that is needed.   CERT Radio and the Hamilton Wireless
Association are conducting  an Amateur Radio License Class Saturday,
February 8.  The study session begins at 9:00am., with a test to obtain your
license scheduled at 1:00pm.  The License Class will be held at Trinity
Community Church, 1675 Grand Ave., San Rafael 94901.

At the License Class this Saturday, you will be given a booklet with
questions and correct answers which we ask you to read up to the time of the

test at 1:00PM.  Experience indicates virtually everyone who reads the
materials passes the test and qualifies for an amateur radio license. 

Once you obtain your Amateur Radio license, we ask you to purchase a two-way
radio. Cost of the radio ranges between $125 and $180. Our recommended radio
is in the $180 range.

The License Class, part of the HWA-sponsored CERT Radio program, is held in
conjunction with a four-session Communications Class.  This program is an
independent extension to CERT (Community Emergency Resource Team)  training
with the interest of forming an emergency radio network in the event of a
disaster.  We also support communications for members of MMRC (Marin Medical
Reserve Corps).  The Communication classes are held each Thursday evening
from 7:00PM to 9:00PM to acquaint you with using your radio.
