Spread the news! Can you recruit one neighbor?

Whether Sandy, Katrina, Joplin.. Communications have been highlighted as the
first and compelling loss in a disaster. Phones, cell phones (including
texting), and commercial radio/tv facilities are either damaged or
overloaded and can't be relied upon.

The Hamilton Wireless Association (HWA) conducts a four-part communications
class each Thursday to provide neighbors who have taken CERT* and members of
MMRC* with information on joining an Amateur radio information network.
With a license and radio, you can communicate using a handheld radio from
your home. In order to participate in the free training, we ask you to
obtain an Amateur license and radio.

HWA is holding an Amateur License Class this Saturday, August 10, starting
at 9:00AM at Trinity Community Church in San Rafael. The cost of the
self-study class is $25.00 which includes a $15.00 license examination fee.
Persons who successfully pass the examination, held a at 1:00PM Saturday,
will obtain a radio license issued by the FCC (Federal Communications
Commission). We'll also supply you with information regarding purchase of a
radio.

Trinity Community Church is located in San Rafael. If you are traveling from
the south on Highway 101, take the Central San Rafael Exit. You will be on
Irwin St. Continue north on Irwin, bearing right and avoiding the 101 North
entry. Continue one block and turn right on Belle Avenue. Continue on
Belle past an elementary school to Grand Ave. Turn left on Grand and
continue approximately two blocks to 1675 Grand.

If you are traveling from the north, take the Lincoln Avenue exit. Turn
left at the stoplight and continue south on Lincoln to the next stoplight.
Turn left onto Linden Lane and continue through the undercrossing of Highway
101. At the other side of the undercrossing, turn right on Grand Ave. The
church is on the immediate right-hand side of Grand.

Feel free to park in the large parking lot in front of the church. The
meeting room is down a small flight of steps on the right-hand side of the
main building.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call.

Thank you!

Sincerely

Bill Smith AB6MT
