Hello to the group,
I had been wanting to make a trip over to the top North East corner of Kansas to try and find a location to
operate the microwave bands from.  A spot that would be high and above everything and as close to the
Kansas state line so that I could possibly give out a contact to the ops as far as IL. and surrounding states.

Bingo, found it while I was visiting Garth - W0GR/EM8ax and his wife Allie.  I got to spend my
Thanksgiving week at the microwave farm!  The Monday after Thanksgiving, the three of use got in the car
and drove 287 miles round trip from Odessa, MO. to a small town of White Cloud, Ks.  It was like we
drove straight to it.  In the town of White Cloud looking for a restroom we drove right to the 4 States
Lookout Point.  It was snowing heavily and I did not take any pictures but did take a GPS reading.  At the
lookout site it was EM29ix and the elevation of 1120 Ft.  This is higher than most of the hill-topping that
I have done in the past!

This lookout is built on the old concrete base of a power tower that use to come across the Missouri
River and supply electricity there.  Hopefully this summer I will make a trip over there and try to spend
a week operating just the uW bands.  I will have .902, 1.2, 2.3, 3.4, 5.7, 10 & 24 GHz.  Oh, one other
thing.  This location only has a South to East to North ONLY shot. You can see MO, IA, NE & of course
KS from this location!  I did take several readings with the GPS in other spots that have a full 360 degree
shot to everyone.  Dam, I grew up in Wichita, KS. but I never new that this area had hills like this!!!

This was like a vacation for me to get out of town and to be there for Allie's 93 rd Birthday and two cakes
& a punkin roll was a lot of fun.  Saturday was kinda a group get together with Ed - N0DAG and Randy - WB0JQQ visiting for a continuing Birthday party.
73 for now,
Dave - KB0PE
