Hi Zack
From your note below , it sounds cool , I just ordered a book on klystrons ,
twt's etc by a.s. gilmour. I have an old klystron made by Hugh's 77xx series
water cooled with magnets that I would like to put on the air , no specs I have
only found one picture in a book from the wash U library.
If I could get it going this would get the old transvertor up and going Ha-Ha …
Let me know more about your system , I'm also working on a frequency multiplyer
that uses a tapered waveguide as a harmonic filter ( 18mm in to 4mm out ) 10 ghz
to 47ghz hopefully , I recieved the tapered ream from Mc Master-Carr a few days
ago , so now I have to come up with a few pcs of brass stock and start cutting.
Well it's down to the shop to get things started , G wiz where to start ?????
OOOOO a friend has a few diffusion pumps , if your into high vacuum , free
electron space and all , 10E-10 torr with dow 705 diffusion pump oil.
I can get his phone number if your interested ? I dont know what he wants for
them may be cheep or trade who knows.
Have fun
Mike

I just got the final LO multiplier based on the W1GHZ "10 GHz personal
beacon" circuit tuned up. I am getting +10 dBm out of it at 11880 MHz.
This is actually a little more than I need for this application, as
the SDH transceivers are supposed to like 6 to 8 dBm of LO at 12 GHz.
So I'm happy with that.
If I needed much more, I'd probably add on another amp after the
output of the LO using something like an MGF1302. You're supposed to
be able to get 17 or 18 dBm out of one of them at 12 GHz if you tune
them carefully. But I understand it's easy to let the smoke out, too.
And the last time I went into the local "smoke shop" asking them if
they had any GaAs smoke for sale, they gave me really weird looks.
:-)
Now I can start putting things together in a box and hope it all works
when it's together.
