Regarding self QRM, I have had similar experiences since returning to
2200m and 630m RX a couple of months ago.
I had a broadband noise covering nearly all of VLF, LF and MF that would
come on for an hour to as much as three hours before cycling off for a
few hours and then returning again. I finally figured out it was a new
refrigerator purchased less than a year ago. A Curtis Industries
F2700AA06 AC line filter completely eliminated that noise.
I had strong, wandering bands of noise on 2200m spaced 120 Hz apart. The
interference got weaker when I turned on the kitchen lights at the far
end of the house but the source turned out to be the power supply in my
shack computer! A Corcom 6EQ1 AC line filter has eliminated that.
I'm still chasing other RFI sources.
