Here, at least, I would be more inclined to suspect something's up when
XND _doesn't_ decode in the daytime, as was the case about two weeks ago.
Now that 10.7 cm solar flux has returned into the 70s, XND decodes pretty
faithfully at mid-day once again.
Today's the first time since the ice storm that the ground has been dry
enough to get to my antenna, but I saw this right away:
1700 -10 -0.8 0.137527 0 WH2XND DM33 40
1708 -10 -0.9 0.137527 0 WH2XND DM33 40
1712 -10 -0.8 0.137527 0 WH2XND DM33 40
The CW ID was nicely audible too. The gap at 1704 was likely due to a
series of S9+ static crashes about that time, one or more of which may
have occurred at an inopportune moment. That decode attempt took a very
long time before the software gave up.
I see that W7IUV (1629 km NNW of XND, as opposed to my 1573 km ENE
direction) and N3IZN (481 km W) have been copying it all morning. (I'm
currently continuing that on an unattended basis while checking in.) Since
way back in the good old days of 24/7 MP on 2200 m, I've long maintained
that this band's daytime groundwave potential has gone unappreciated.
