[Lowfer] Tonight's Target, 1750 M Watering Hole

As for the other signals at the watering hole overnight, I did get SJ a
few times, but only for about 30-40 minutes duration each. The first was
actually centered on 9:30 PM, but I missed it in my first examination last
night. There was another good spell centered on 3 AM and another centered
on 4 AM.

My last WM was around 1 AM. The QRSS ID showed up best at 60 Slow, but
the only graphical one I snagged with any definitudinousness (just wanted
to mess with the spell checker there <g>) was clearer at 30 Slow.

There were broken fragments most likely from TAG throughout the night, but
nothing identifiable after the "AG" that showed up between 9:15 and 9:30
PM CDT. (Any chance we might see a few WOLFs sometime this year?)

Because tonight is supposed to be the start of our winter storm event, I
checked HiFERs briefly before intending to break down the setup for a
return to town. Nothing much there...just RY and noisy EH at the watering
hole (not even NC a couple hundred Hz higher today); and up the dial, FRC
was consistently visible and sometimes audible.

But then I absent-mindedly called up the 2200m WSPR slot around noon and
caught XND going into his CW ID. Now THAT'S more like the mid-day
reception of old! Solar flux is only up a few units from the last time I
tried a 24-hour run of XND, but it makes me think there may be a
significant difference in results if I were to repeat the effort tonight.
Dunno if it's going to happen, though...I wouldn't want to sit out there
the whole time, under the circumstances, and I also don't relish making a
midnight battery charging expedition in freezing rain! We'll see what the
late afternoon propagation looks like, then make a decision.

John
