Hi Garry,
Thanks for the feedback on my revised graphic. I agree with you, I was
not completely happy with this version. You are correct about this
having distinct frequency steps. Actually each of the 3 blips is made up
of 2 steps. I removed two steps in between each blip. The reduced
number of of frequency steps is a compromise to reduce the overall
transmission time, and keep enough energy in each Argo bin to paint a
bright dot.
The down side of lengthening the transmission time is the increasing
chance of drifting off frequency. As we approach spring, with more rapid
temp swings I expect that to become a problem.
I have been thinking of things I could do to reduce the transmission
time. I can stop the graphic portion by simply disabling that
transmission.
It's funny that my first graphic version seemed to come thru better than
the FSK, while these last two versions have consistently been weaker
than FSK.
