You're right, but this was not the maiden voyage. We had set it aside
some years ago. It has some promise as a "local" mode at LF, but doesn't
seem to do well with real-world noise down here. My suspicion is that it
would hold together as promised in a smooth-noise situation.
Actually, I've not yet seen an MSK (not MFSK) implementation for ham
radio that does as well as PSK with similar error correction. Dunno why.
Anyway, for the moment, the MFSK stuff seems better as a chat mode for
ops with non-linear PA's. Do wish that more development would go into
PSK modes with robust forward error correction. WOLF was a good example
of that, but was too demanding for most users.
