Very Interesting! This type of "American Five Tube" radio from a by gone
era has a lot of warm
memories for me from my childhood. Great job on acquiring this radio and
getting it working
again! You have revived pleasant memories memories for me. I can almost
smell those hot
tubes again!!

My grandfather gave me such a radio when I was seven years old on a
summer visit to Tennessee.
My Dad stood by my interest in radio that influenced my future so much.
When I got it back home
to Michigan, I plugged it in and began my radio interest that lead me to
ham radio and electronics
in general. I 'discovered' by turning all the screws inside and learning
what each did, I was able to
move the AM Broadcast band down the dial .... I discovered the Ohio
police department base and
mobile broadcasts, and the marine ship to shore phone stations.

This led me to shortwave radio, and on to electronics as a hobby.
Contributed to my future
career path and into amateur radio.

Thanks for sharing!

I recently found on ebay for a reasonable price for some personal stress
management...

Last night I had it on the dining room table around 11PM and it was
receiving WCBS in New York just fine on just the "voltage probe" plate
antenna.

Way too much fun... Thanks for the bandwidth. 73, Mike wa3tts
