Laurence and Dex,

Thank you both for the encouraging replies to my query about mobile miniwhip.
I have the antenna on top of an 18" PVC pipe, mag mounted to the SUV's roof.
The shield of the coax is grounded via the upper seat belt anchor bolt which is
just a few inches inside the vehicle's window,  the entry point for the coax.

I'll let you know how it works for me after a week or so of tests from a variety of
RF quiet spots in the area.
