I had better reception with the antenna on a mag mount on top of my van 
than I did with it on three 5 foot sections of TV antenna mast beside 
the van.  Also I noticed a slight increase in signal strength when I 
connected an alligator clip lead from the base of the antenna to the 
vehicle rain gutter.  Those test were done in a clear open area.
