[Lowfer] VLF Alphas

I run Slackware 14.0 Linux here along with Wine V1.6 and it lets 
Spectrum Lab V2.78 run without any problems. Those are at least 1 
release behind current, maybe 2.  I'd give it a try. I don't know how 
that compares to Mint 17.
