[Lowfer] Speaking of Loops for 1750 meters ;

I have several time desired to put " XR " back on the air, but the antenna is always the
holdup.. As many of you know; I used a couple of vertical designs in the past with good
success.. However !! Things have changed considerably at my QTH over the past couple
of years, mainly; a 16 month old Granddaughter that is absolutely fascinated with all of
Papaw's wires on the wall, and gidgy gadgets all over the place.. Forgive me, but I have
to be a papaw for a minute.. The other day, Zoey was sitting in my lap at the radio desk
listening to the static with me, and I rolled the VFO a bit, and heard a heterodyne, so I
swished the VFO back, and forth a few times to make the sound go up and down, and
Zoey got so excited that she started trying to reach the VFO knob.. I don't normally
let her touch my gear, but I couldn't help letting her swish the VFO.. She grabbed the
knob and began doing what I did, and made the sound go up, and down, and looked up
at me grinning from ear to ear with all 4 teeth showing, and started giggling at me..
( A memory I'll cherish forever ) ... OK, thanks for the Papaw moment, now back to the
loop question I have.. I will have to locate the " XR " beacon in a place where Zoey can't
get to it of course, so the old Variometer is out of the question.. " IF " my understanding
is on track; once you get a loop tuned for TX, it fairly well stays resonant even with changes
in the WX, Seasons, and nearby Foliage, is this thought correct ?? The vertical is completely
the opposite of that, needing constant " touching up " to keep it resonant.. If a loop for TX is
very close to a " set it, and forget it " antenna, then that is probably the way I need to go..

Thoughts please ... They will be much appreciated.. 73 to all for now :

Andy - XR
