JD,

20% of the signal is pretty significant and I might expect that it reduces the possible decode depth so I will move down to .615 going forward.

that today, I'd sure be glad to keep a lookout for you.

Yes, this would be great.  I've theorized that probably 250-300 miles is about the limit of my ground wave on a quiet day for an equipped station and I suspect you are close to that since XXM and the boy in central OK are about 200 miles and do quite well.

Out of curiosity, do you know N0UU near Salina, KS?  He applied for and was granted for 630m but was going  to be traveling in the late summer of 2013 and it would be after his return that he would begin operating.  I lost touch and never got email replies and never heard him on the air.  It would certainly be helpful to have him or someone a little further north and dead center of the US that was active on the band.  Right now XXM is the closest thing we have and he does very well.

73 and thanks again!

John XIQ

Continued to see you quite well for almost two hours after my earlier post,
JL.  Last decode was stamped 1202, when the sun had been up for half an
hour.  It and the preceding decodes were showing -12 dB very consistently,
which is so stable that I strongly suspect it was groundwave.  If you'd like
to try a daytime experiment one of these mornings when the noise is no worse
that today, I'd sure be glad to keep a lookout for you.

As can be seen in the attached image from last night, the mystery noise
seems to overlap about 20% of your signal, but it doesn't seem to cause any
decoding problems here.

I'll try to take a look at your QRP test tonight, but I really, truly
guarantee I won't be doing a third all-nighter!

JD
