Thanks everyone for all the reports, esp those who left their grabbers on
last night, it was interesting to see how the sig changed throughout the
evening.

I reviewed my reception reports of MBD from last year and compared with
those of XNI, and as expected the XNI captures have been much
better....although not as good as I had hoped for ( I thought I should be
copyable at QRS3 or perhaps even audible under good condx) I have been
pretty happy with the results. I've had captures from coast-to-coast this
year, something I was never able to achieve with the lowfer power.

Previously have been ruuning XNI at about 70W ouput ( at ~ 70% eff ), and
made some tx mods last week to increase efficiency to around 90% and 100 W
output. I'm approaching about 1.25A of antenna current now, and if we have
a cold snap it will go higher !

The antenna is very simple, perhaps 30' vertical wire with two short (
maybe 7 or 8' ) top hat radials and another long 30' top hat radial. It is
only a few feet from the side of the house. So I imagine my antenna
efficiency is quite poor compared to most of the lowfer antennas around (
and the stns on 137 khz ).

73 ! Mark WG2XNI / AB0CW
