I pulled down the Marconi and reinstalled the quarter wave loop for 600m back up the trees - Watt for Watt (and given the slight directivity of the loop in my config) the Loop is giving some 4-6dB improvement on ground wave at 35 miles.
 
Ground wave testing will continue thru the day on 475.6kHz at 100W from the TX into the loop "T" 9 secs of carrier on/off
