[Lowfer] Flex-5000A or Flex-1500

I have have only casually considered the Flex radios.

I am considering the Apache Labs Hermes board and chassis at ~ 900$.
Hermes does allow for an external 10 MHz station reference like a GPS/DO

I do not need the 10W nor the 100W HF (160M thru 6M)  filtering and 
amplifier.

You really have to ask yourself where you fit into the 2 extremes,
an appliance operator or a
experimenter into the bleeding edge of SDR hardware and software technology.
There are many advantages to both conditions.

The newer Angelia may have multiple receiver capability to allow 
unattended monitoring on many bands
like 137, 185 and 500 KHz simultaneously or medfer/hifer.
