I know how hard you have tried Jim and am amazed that you don't have one of the more successful beacons .
Mine is just thrown together for especially the antenna . It is a single piece of stranded #14 nickel plated wire 42 foot long and
a wire 5 foot diameter top hat . The antenna runs right into the shack to the transmitter so it even has 4 or 5 foot of a horizontal
run to it .
I have a crossarm made of large PVC run through the tower at the 50 foot level and pulleys installed on it and it runs about
5 or 6 foot away from the tower . I just use a rope to raise or lower my lowfer wire . My ground consists of 3 eight foot ground
rods .
My beacon regularly is copied from 1000 to 1500 during the season and there was a station in Colorado that could also copy it
at high noon . (I am in northeast Oklahoma )
Lots of guys that still build and experiment on these frequencies .
