Andy,

WOW! That's really bad. I can almost visualize the arc. I wonder how
much power is being wasted if you added all that kind of stuff up. There has
to be a lot of instances where it's not being reported.

Subject: [Lowfer] Big Time Interference

The last couple of weeks have been very difficult reception here, and I was
having trouble figuring out why, UNTIL !! Thurs. night. Powerline " arc-ing
"
at 25 dB over S-9.. I'm so used to Noise Blanking, and Narrow Filters that I
had it ( sorta ) covered up.. But my resting noise was noticably higher than
it usually is.. Turned off all the filtering, and recorded this in A.M. mode
using 2.4 KHz BW... be prepared for some big time nasty...

I walked the line with a handheld A.M. radio until I found the source..
Reported it to my power company this morning.. It usually takes them 2 to 3
days to respond, But when they do, AND " fix " the problem, it sure will be
nice to be able to hear once again..
