Mike,
This is sad news. I'd known Bill for the past decade or so and
have been to his house in Andover and the cabin he was building in the
mountains of Ellsworth,NH. I never met his wife or daughter though so I'm
not surprised that I didn't hear about his passing.
Bill helped me get my transmitting loop for 137kHz up and helped again when
I added a second parallel wire a couple of years ago.
I know that Bill had plans to test his new vertical on 500kHz this Spring.
Bill did tell me the story of you being the first to receive
his LF beacon.
I know that Bill had heart surgery a number of years ago, but
since then he was very physically active (hiking in the mountains) and
really watched his diet so I'm very surprised to hear about the heart
attack.
I did find this online obituary:
http://www.andovertownsman.com/obituaries/x467323294/William-Ashlock-72
This is a big blow to the lowfer community and to me personally
R.I.P. Bill!
