>>> Anyone got a copy of that Popular Electronics article from 1971?
That was my first exposure to 1750 meters as well, Paul.
But oh, was I naive, hoping to hear and maybe work some other station from
this isolated corner of the country with the very basic apparatus of that
time. It might have been a realistic possibility if there had been anyone
else in the same or adjoining county who had also read the article, but
apparently I was the only one for many miles around at that time. Then I
moved to Georgia and didn't even have a place for an antenna for many years,
rediscovering LF only after seeing mention of Ken Cornell's LF Scrapbook and
the LWCA in PE.
Seems to me the '71 article was a two-parter. My originals of the 1971 PE
issues are long gone, but somebody sent me a copy of those articles some
years back. I know I still have the material somewhere in one of my many
storage boxes, and if I can find it, I'll be glad to send it to you.
John
