That was my first exposure to 1750 meters as well, Paul.

But oh, was I naive, hoping to hear and maybe work some other station from 
this isolated corner of the country with the very basic apparatus of that 
time.  It might have been a realistic possibility if there had been anyone 
else in the same or adjoining county who had also read the article, but 
apparently I was the only one for many miles around at that time.  Then I 
moved to Georgia and didn't even have a place for an antenna for many years, 
rediscovering LF only after seeing mention of Ken Cornell's LF Scrapbook and 
the LWCA in PE.

Seems to me the '71 article was a two-parter.  My originals of the 1971 PE 
issues are long gone, but somebody sent me a copy of those articles some 
years back.  I know I still have the material somewhere in one of my many 
storage boxes, and if I can find it, I'll be glad to send it to you.
