Good news - thanks Mike..... I will leave it for a few more days - and then may tie one 
of the wires in parallel with the current 2 wire loop I am using.   The idea is to increase the current
in the loop as suggested by Jay...... so am going to try it.

By the way - I enjoy the commentary about your mods and techniques.
Have already changed a few bypass and coupling capacitors in some of the preamps..  :-)
