[Lowfer] MP Loop antenna reconfigured

Good questions for Mitch Andy - Ive been asking questions on radials and screening to John TAG and Jay and John found an old paper that says (empirically) that a tuned screen under the loop should reduce "(dilectric ground) losses by quite a few dBs , but even a screen of say 1.5m width by just the length of the lower loop will reduce losses even if it isnt tuned. There is some discussion on "How" you would tune it and in reality will it help in bespoke geographic and ground conditions ~ Im, before the heavy snows come (we still dont have any here in Alaska would you believe) Im going to lay out some 200 ft long by 6ft wide welded mesh fencing pinned to the ground and see if it makes any difference - empirally I think John tried it with a small sized screen and saw no difference - Ill have a play in any case, and see what currents are flowing - and at the same time looking to increase the size of the loop without adding the same additive ground losses and getting no where :-) If I dont get anywhere Ill probably change the config into a Inv L and see if a base loaded top cap does better at these lower temps without the Tree sizzle hopefully - I have a well casing and an estabilished screen close by I can tie into - Laurence KL 1 X WE2 XPQ
