[Lowfer] WE2XGR/6 spark transmission tonight

Missed the actual transmission but have the received audio saved
somewhere. Description of signal is very accurate and I remember
reading in a very old 'radio book' that one way to simulate a spark
signal was to connect the headphones to a buzzer circuit running off the
AC power lines. Obviously there much higher pitched notes. Right now
the Tesla Coil nuts are building rotary gaps capable of handling as much
as 20 kW and I've always thought it would be interesting to enroll some
people in a special 'spark night', getting on the air with real signals
starting maybe 3:00 Sunday morning for a short while. Almost no one to
interfere with and those who were jammed wouldn't know what was happening.
My experience with spark transmission, ca 1940, was very crude. A
couple of us about 3 miles apart had small neon sign transformers with a
spark directly across the transformer and antenna connected directly to
one end. We'd never heard of tuning at the time but could hear each
others very ratty sounding signals on the folks' BC receiver.
