The following is mentioned:  "Bill Ashlock's "Wm" Part 15 beacon uses the 
VCO voltage from NE555 timers to pull the transmitter crystal frequency. "

I do recall him posting his results as he experimented in creating the WM 
and comments when one of the swings was WAY out.

I still think I saw a photo of his WM keyer somewhere...
