You using a tuned longwire for reception?
Doug
Hey Doug, Garry, and whoever reads this. Stefan said he will be operating most nights as the season
begins to get better now... He is planning some improvements to gain an additional 3 to 6 dB om XMIT.
I watch the G4WGT grabber to see what's going on, helps to know whether to look or not..
My antenna setup has been changed somewhat... The 40' lowFER Vertical no longer stands, and I am
using the mast for it for my 160 Windom. Mounting it there, slightly reoriented its layout, but I believe it
acts more like a vertical anyway.. I removed the 80 meter dipole that was connected to it, and now have
only the Windom up at 40' AGL... HF reception is quieter now, and transmit seems to be OK.
To use the antenna below 160 meters; I clip the center pin, and the shield of the coax together, then run
it thru a series of Inductors to load the antenna for the frequency I want to monitor, and use an
air variable to fine tune it to resonance...
I used to think of the antenna as a top loaded vertical, or a " TEE ", but it's really back to back
inverted - L's... To be a TEE, the horizontal legs would need to be shorted together at the APEX...
Definitely not an antenna guru here, just my thoughts on the setup...
73 for now all:
