Garry I have my rec set for overnight capture on 185.185khz. Hope
thats right per your schedule.

A small heat source inside a styrofoam ice chest should keep the
lcd's at a temp. Could be as little as a few 12v lamps.

Some work to do on WMS, may be last of next week before I put it
back on. Part of my noise problem turned out to be the wall wart p/s I
use to keep the battery charged on the beacon. I run the 12volt
charging current out to the tx box with cable tv coax burried about 6
inches deep. Replacing the wal wart cut the impulse noise but I still
have broad band noise up to 5mhz. I think that comes from remote power
meter.

I got fair copy on siw hifer and NC this afternoon with my Pegasus
and TA33jr beam. Its pointed SE but you were fair.

Quoting Garry Hess :
Bob, NK9M and I fired up lowfer SIW this afternoon from EN51uq. This
year's version is to switch at 1800Z to 185.185... kHz (Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday) and to 185.2993 kHz (Monday, Wednesday, Friday,
and Sunday). Time will tell if that works as intended. Transmissions
consist of "SIW" sent at QRSS60 rate.

Wonder if anyone has knowledge of the low-temperature tolerance of LCD
displays? I used an LCD for the synthesizer readout and it survived the
winter intact outdoors without a heater, but it didn't get below about
-12 F. This year is unlikely to be so mild. The current setup also has
an LCD associated with the timer.
