Dex,

Looking back in the LWCA Message Board archives, it appears that you 
were indeed the first one on the air in that 2001 period. According to a 
message from John Davis at that time, there had been Hifer activity some 
years earlier, but with the limitations of ear-copied CW, it petered 
out. So the 2001 start-up was more of a resurrection based on the 
success we had at LF with the slower signalling modes.

There was more message traffic about this on the Lowfer reflector at the 
time, but it appears that those messages were not carried through a 
Mailman conversion at the end of 2001, as nothing appears in the Lowfer 
archives.
