Really nice capture of MP and XES, Garry! I _thought_ I was seeing XES last
night, and now I can be reasonably sure of it. I never could see the last
"dash" of the X for some reason, and I could never see the E. When I
started out at 11 PM CDT, static was low, but so were signal levels here.
By 3 AM, I had more static but also more signal, giving me very clear copy
of MP and partial copy of XES. Before 5 AM, however, MP simply went away in
mid-ident...got the M, but no P afterward. The pre-dawn fade from the
northeast has gotten worse over the past couple of weeks, with a faster
onset and deeper attenuation.
On the plus side, all QRN was gone too. After I took a break for breakfast
a quick photo shoot, I went back out to the field about 8:15, and was
delighted to see MP back in its usual spot. (However, WWVB was experiencing
its post-dawn fade, down about 12 db.) Tuned over to 1750m, and was
rewarded with WMS (well, after I unplugged my cell phone charger, that is).
Working on pictures for a client right now, but when I get done, I'll
extract the screen shots and post them.
