The short duration of the meter's data transmission causing interference
isn't my main complaint. I have three UPS power units that senses the
data noise when the meter transmits causing them to alarm and switch to
protected power. At a rate of about 4 switching cycles per day I wonder
how long the relays will last. Also I begin having problems with
several X-10 switches randomly operating on or off just after the
utility meter was installed. The X-10 units operate at 120 kHz.

Hi Dex,
If the data noise is tripping your UPS units do you think a good
heavy-duty AC line filter in front of the UPS units might stop them
from tripping on the noise?

I have experienced the utility meter data noise here and it sounds like
a sharp squarewave signal with lots of harmonics but it doesn't bother the
UPS units on my computer and monitor. Luckily it is short duration here.
