Greetings all:
Just getting around to responding to overnight emails. Thanks to
all who looked for the SMT-HELL signal again..
Dick - WA3USG: Yes that was my signal. At that time I was still
trying different Fonts to try and find one that really stands out
clearly, with distinguishable letters.. Some fonts don't look very
good.. Thanks for the capture.

Andy,
Unfortunately it doesn't appear the larger power supply helped your
drift issue. - - - - - -

Disappointingly, that appears to be the case Garry. I had hoped that
a low voltage/current issue was the problem, but not so..At least I
know that now, so back to the aging components.. Thanks for looking
and your capture..

Had you just at the top of the 155 screen and then you appeared to head
North :-))
Laurence B Vile OK
Hi Laurence: Thanks for looking, and the report. The signal does that
every night when I go to bed. My gear is in a corner of my bedroom so
when I shut the door, turn on a fan ( can't sleep without it ?? ),
the room temp drops, then the heat comes on repeatedly, and away it goes.
The drift seems to be a consistent 6 cycles upward overnight, so in
future runs, I'll set the frequency at 186.146 KHz at bedtime, and it
will drift up to around 186.153-ish or so during the night. And as I
always say; " Hopefully " it will stay inside a QRSS-30 window centered
on 186.150 KHz.. On another note; it will do just the opposite in the
summertime. When the AC come on, the frequency will go down as the
radio cools.

If you're taking requests ... how about a night or two of good old fashioned QRSS ;~)

Hi Jay:
I'll need to put the QRSS transmitter back together to do that.
I am using parts of it on the present setup. Just for the giggle
factor of saying it; doing so with " old driftie " would look like
a worm trail traveling thru the dirt.

I would like to find some way to tame the drift issue if possible,
but I have been told that with the Reference Oscillator rated at
10 ppm; it could drift as much as 10 cycles in either direction at
1 MHz.. Not very good. And Ralph - W5JGV told me it was doubtful
that I could get it much better being what it is.. The biggest
attraction of the radio is its RF output on any frequency it can
tune... BUT !! a stable radio, thru a simple transverter will
accomplish the same goal..
