I posted similar on the VLF_Group at yahoogroups.com and received a reply from
Paul Nicolson of Todmorden UK, 53.703N 2.072W. He has kindly provided a
bearing from his QTH of 111.7 deg. And for comparison,
NAA measures 285.9 deg, actual bearing 285.2 deg.
DHO measures 92.6 deg, actual bearing 92.2 deg.
When I put his bearing onto an azimuthal equidistant map for the NW UK, his
bearing runs through Germany, Austria, Romania, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Saudi
Arabia and Yeman/Oman.
In a later reply, Paul's guess: Saudi Arabia, somewhere between Jeddah and
Riyadh.
However, I noticed that just off Paul's bearing - although that would
appear
to be accurate, that rather interestingly Diego Garcia would be 107 degrees
from his QTH.....
Food for thought?
Cheers!

Hi Clive,
Thanks for your efforts in helping to find the direction and possible
location
of the new VLF station on 26.0KHz.
A friend Lionel Loudet in Muret, France is hearing the new signal also. He
says a tentative bearing
shows the signal is coming at a 100 degree bearing from his location in
Southern France.
He is going to re- check the calibration on the bearing for his RDF loop.
This is a note from Lionel :
I have setup the antennas in RDF mode.
You can have a look here of the region around 26k in real time:
http://spectrumlab.loudet.org/
So far it looks like the new signal seems to be coming from somewhere in
Eastern Europe
or the Middle East, possibly even Iran. It must be related to someone's
submarine fleet in
the area.
I can barely copy the signal at this time 1800UTC in SE USA, but it has a
good level right now
being received in Southern France.
