Yes, loops have the big advantage, in my experience, of being less
sensitive to being in close proximity to foliage, as well as having the two
deep nulls that you can use to your advantage to null out QRM. I just hate
dealing with rotors. At my location, the trees don't seem to desense the
antenna very much, especially in the winter when the leaves are off and the
sap is down. But anyway, my wife informed me yesterday that she wants me to
clean out the wooded part of our property, so after I get that accomplished
I may see some improvement.
I'm not sure if it's really an advantage on LF or VLF (though it certainly
is on VHF), but I live at the very top of a hill, at about 1700 ft (perhaps
300ft above the bottom of the hill).
