Those who have the time to do some transmitting or receiving at LF/MF
during the daytime today may get some interesting "beyond normal
groundwave" results. Following a significant CME arrival like we had on
Friday, the D layer may become a better reflector. The best conditions
over a distance of hundreds of miles are usually about two days after
the event.
In January, 2004, Dex and I had a daytime WOLF QSO on 185.85 kHz at a
distance of 671 miles using Part 15 gear. This was upon advice from
Alan, G3NYK, that daytime conditions might be good two days after a
decent CME arrival.
At the moment, I am copying most of the NYC AM stations better than
normal up in southern Maine. MP on 137.7806 is significantly
"cleaner-looking" than it was last weekend.
So, it might be worth a listen or some transmitting during the day
today. If any of the WOLF experts want TAG back on for the day, let me
know.
John, W1TAG
