Hello Dex,

WD-1 at one time consisted of 2 insulated wires, each wire consisted
of a twist of multiple galvi steel strands for strength with a copper 
strand or 2 for conductivity..

Worked well at audio freqs, but at higher freqs it may have more 
resistance and inductance than
a single strand of insulated copper wire.

I like EAR's suggestion of a coupling transformer and a tuning cap
