Well now, ya' got me on that one! Being a naturalized Southerner after
all these years, I kind of forgot that water comes in other forms than
liquid.
This is the first year that I have been at this QTH when it has become
cold enough to actually freeze the earth to a few inches depth. That
did cause a major change in the tuning of my antenna until it thawed out
again. But that does not explain the diurnal variation you are seeing.
I'll think about that and see if I can come up with anything.
