[Lowfer] 2200 Meter request for NPRM

Ouch - thanks for putting this forward John - I too wouldnt have put a TX power into the calc; even with 500W I would be, with the "normal" wooded plot struggling to get to 1W ERP with our best loops, but ERP if we have to consider a limit would be the waytogo IMHO.

With 100W I wouldnt be pushing much out and wouldnt have gained the experience of dealing with 40 or 50 amp loop currents and all the fun that brought..burning bushes, strange bloo glows etc

No knowledge of this chaps on air operations - and my fears on slamming the doors are the same as yours

> Have been meaning to mention this, but it had slipped my mind. A posting last month on the LWCA Message Board from James Whedbee, holder of WE2XTU, cites a request he filed with the FCC to establish a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to establish an Amateur band at 135.7-137.9 kHz. The text of his request may be seen at:
>
> The gist of his argument is that considerable Amateur and Experimental operation has taken place in the band since RM-9404 was rejected, and no interference appears to have been caused. He claims that with 1 watt ERP and a maximum transmitter output power of 100 watts, interference is unlikely.
>
> Just from a technical point of view, I would hate to see that 100 watt limit, as many practical backyard antennas could not meet 1 watt ERP with it. From a tactical point of view, if the FCC slams the door on a "lone wolf" applicant, then it only increases the waiting time before a larger organization like the ARRL could approach without being told "we just said no!"
>
> Anyway, it's food for thought. Has anyone been aware of any on-air 2200 meter operation by WE2XTU? His license covers a number of other frequency ranges, as well.
