Hi Charlie,

I've been using an Atmel AVR ISP MkII programmer with my new Windows 7 
machine with good success. It works extremely well with AVRStudio 4 and 
WinAVR.

I only do AVR programming though, so I can't comment on programmers for 
other micros.
