[Lowfer] ZL1BPU DDS

Thanks Charlie - I can program the main prog via Parallel port and old Atmel AVR software (its running on an old IBM ThinkPad and Windows 95), or Ponyprog and then the EEPROM via the parallel port and interface leveler and 2 x 5 row header or via the serial port of the device. At the moment I'm using the default programming mode using HyperTerminal and not MAKEBCN.exe or other outboard control prog as the morse that comes out using that prog on my system sounds like me on the key after 10, no, 20 beers.. The EEPROM memory can get screwed up quite easily leading to some interesting messages...I might resurrect the old visual "OK staircase" if I can remember the code! This 2313 device is a little slow on read/write compared with some new devices, and if using XP computers you may have to frig the code to stop XP scanning the parallel port for activity which can screw up the read and writes - I see new via USB programming devices now so it seems to have moved along...

Laurence

You can program it through the assembled board , if you build the full blown version .

If you build a bare bones version you have to program it off board . I do have an Atmel programmer here too . When I get time , I'll dig it out and refresh my memory on programming chips just in case someone can't do their own .

Futurlec has a nice option . They offer a nice board "almost" ready to transmit , with room at the end of the board to add a final .

It is $20 . I haven't tried one , but between it and Lyle's simple versions , there isn't any reason for anyone not to build one . They work great .

Usual disclaimer , no financial interest , just a satisfied customer www.Futurlec.com
